Jose Gavira (Ph.D.)

Dr. Gavira has over 20 years of experience in research. He has a physical chemistry background gaining a Ph.D. in protein crystallization in diffusion mass transport media (Granada, Spain, 2000). From 2000 to 2003 Dr. Gavira worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Huntsville (UAH) in Alabama (USA) while collaborating with several groups at the Marshal Space Flight Centre (NASA) in protein crystallization and in situ resources utilization projects. Since 2003, he is a Tenure Research Scientist at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and leading the macromolecular crystallography research group developing his new line of research focus on the biotechnological application of protein/enzyme crystals for drug formulations, as self-supported catalysts and as biosensors.
